Putrajaya, Monday (18 March 2019)<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013Yesterday, the Minister of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment, and Climate Change (MESTECC) \u2013 YB Puan Yeo Bee Yin provided an update on the progress of the newly enhanced net energy metering (NEM) programme which she introduced in October last year. This update was carried out in a \u00bd day briefing organised by Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA) Malaysia on the new NEM.<\/p>\n

  1. NET ENERGY METERING\u00a0 (NEM) UPDATES<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    1. 1\u00a0Tremendous Growth on take up rate<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
        \n
      1. A total capacity of\u00a0500 MW has been allocated<\/strong>\u00a0for the NEM and will be exhausted by end of 2020;<\/li>\n
      2. In the past months through constant communications by disseminating the right information in raising awareness on the new\u00a0 NEM to the public, SEDA has\u00a0witnessed 11 MW taken up in just 2 months<\/strong>which shows a\u00a0tremendous growth compared to 18.24MW take up rate<\/strong>\u00a0in the 12 month period last year<\/strong>; and<\/li>\n
      3. In total, SEDA\u00a0has approved 38 MW<\/strong>\u00a0of which\u00a010 MW has achieved commercial operation.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
