SEDA Malaysia Response to the Media statement by YB Dr Ong Kian Ming

Putrajaya, Tuesday (29th April 2014): Response from SEDA Malaysia: The manner in which the RE Fund is to be expended is meted out clearly under Section 25 in the Renewable Energy Act 2011 [Act 725].  The RE Fund is tightly ring fenced and is managed separately from SEDA Malaysia’s fund. The status of the RE Fund is reflected in SEDA Malaysia’s annual report which can be downloaded from the website:
http://www.seda.gov.my/?omaneg=00010100000001010101000100001000000000000000000000&y=45&s=3654

Therefore, the statement from YB Dr Ong Kian Ming on the increase in the RE fund in 2014 surcharge will only add to the cash reserves of SEDA is inaccurate.
