According to the media statement released by the Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA) on 22 May 2026, the Government has introduced a new incentive programme to encourage the installation of solar PV systems for domestic consumers known as the Sustainable Rebate & Incentive Assistance (SuRIA) Home.
Key highlights of SuRIA Home:
- One-time cash rebate: RM600/kWac up to a maximum of RM3,000 for Solar Accelerated Transition Action Programme (Solar ATAP) domestic customers (Malaysian Citizen) and have not received any prior cash rebate under previous SolaRIS programme. Subject to the terms and conditions of SuRIA Home.
- Rebate allocation: Based on a first-come, first-served basis from 1 June until 31 December 2026. Customers must successfully commission their solar PV system installations by 31 December 2026, or until all SuRIA Home rebate allocation are fully distributed, whichever comes first.
- Rebate disbursement: The rebate will be transferred to the preferred local bank account under the registered TNB customer after receiving an email from TNB for SuRIA Home application.
Important Reminder: PETRA has emphasized that any party, including solar service providers, found to be misusing the application may be blacklisted from participating in future incentive programmes.
